Depths into the ocean

Once upon a time, a brave sailor travelled the would searching for new lands, fearing not but the thought of living a life without pursuing his dreams. He was a dreamer, determined to explorer all seas, and making his name great among all sailors. His crew loved him, because his sense of justice and honor were above everyone. He cared for every member of his crew, and filled everyone with enthusiasm. They overcome many situations together, sea storms, ice, wind, starvation, thirst, and all those bad times made their bond even stronger.

So, one day, the sailor met a woman in one of his travels. They docked the ship and went to the tavern to commemorate the safe journey. They drank beer and ate meat, while singing victory songs about their stories. One of the waitresses came to fill the sailor mug and he lost his breath when he saw her. She had long and beautiful read hair, her skins was soft and white, freckles on her face and a pair of beautiful green eyes... despite all her beauty, a sad expression accompanied her.

After all that celebration, the sailor commanded his crew to go back to the ship. The sailor went to the shore for light a cigar and enjoy the night sky, and he saw the waitress by a bonfire and staring to the ocean. He went next to her and asked if he could join her, she made a positive sign with her head and he took a sit. They both talked for hours, knowing each other, but she constantly stared for the ocean. He asked her what was her fixation for the ocean, and she told him that she lost her parents when she was younger, her parents were for fishing but a sudden storm appeared on the ocean and they never returned. After that event she had to look by herself and survive, going all difficult situations made her a strong person, but she missed the sense of affection. She told him that her dream was to travel the world, that this small island that she lives holds nothing for her but a miserable life.

After all their conversation the sailor became even more attracted for her, but not for her looks now, but for her dream and strength. He ended the talking by offering her an opportunity to be part of his crew, so she could travel the world, know new places and feel accomplished. Her sad expression instantly turned into a beautiful smile, shining eyes and a loom of joy. She hugged the sailor thanking the invitation and he hugged her back with joy of supporting her dream.

"So welcome to the crew".

After she packed her few belongings they all went back to the ocean. Her eyes shined as bright as the sun over the sky, she was helpful, assisting the crew on the kitchen, mopping, on the sail, she would help on everything she could, not for obligation, but it was her way of feeling accomplished. They overcame many situations together during the travels, making their bond and experience grow everyday. The sailor kept talking with her about everything, they matched each other perfectly, and their friendship became love one day.

They end up marrying in one of their travels. They docked by a small and beautiful town, during the spring. The fields were full of flowers, and the flowers were blossoming... it was a field full of tulips with different colors, like a big and colorful carpet disappearing on the horizon. The sailor proposed marriage under a tree and she accepted... they married that day and celebrated with their crew and the residents, eating, drinking and dancing during the night on the tavern. They left during the celebration and went back to the same place where he proposed her, and made love there, while watching the sky and confessing love to each other. The sailor fell asleep and she took a letter she wrote before and buried next to the tree trunk.

After some months they discovered she was pregnant and they both got scared and happy about that, but they celebrated that despite the fear about the future. Having a child would mean changing everything about their dreams, their future, but they decided to keep on doing what they love, traveling the oceans and loving each other.

Months passed and she was starting to feel labor pain, she was close to having the baby... they were not close to land, so she would have to give birth on the ship. Suddenly a storm came and the sea became violent, the waves were big, and there were thunders making so much noise. The crew was dealing with the ship while the sailor and someone was assisting his wife... she started to give birth, but it was really becoming difficult for her and they didn't know the reason... maybe was the storm, the noises, the waves... they didn't know... she was in intense pain for hours, pushing the baby, screaming in pain, every scream shattered a piece of the sailor... after that long time she finally gave birth, but something didn't look right... she was getting pale, weak, and colder... The sailor started to get desperate, calling for her name... She started to whisper something really low and he put his ear next to her mouth...

"I love you, buried under the tree... i love you, buried under the ..."

After that she passed away, and part of the sailor and his crew died here.

They docked a couple days later and the sailor and his crew mourned and cremated her body. Her final words were "buried under the tree" so the captain took her ashes and sailed back to the place where they proposed and made love with her, he was going to bury her there. He and his crew went to the field, and someone took the shovel and went to open the grave, but the sailor took the shovel of his hand and started to open the grave by himself, watering the ground with his tears, preparing a grave for his flower... when he started to dig, he felt the shovel hit something, so he jumped there and started to dig with his bare hands, finding small box and a letter inside.

"Dear love, if you are reading this letter that means I'm no longer alive, but had the opportunity to tell you where to find it before dying.

We met, dreamed, traveled, achieved. Everything i ever dreamt to do was possible due to your invitation. I am so grateful for everything we went together, all the places we discovered, all the experiences that we had. You turned my misery into victories, my sadness into joy and my hate into love.

I'm gone, but you are not. Keep pursuing your dreams, the seas owns you now, not me.

Make your name great and i shall be great with you.

You reading this letter means that you loved me more than the world, and my spirit will live with you forever...

I guess it's a farewell, with all my love.

Goodbye."

A poem for their souls

Ocean represents love as it has a powerful impact on us,

It drags you down gradually until you resign.
